Join us in Nashville to capture the vitality of this energetic city. Internationally known artist Gayle Levée leads this plein air workshop for artists who want to experience the joy and challenges of working outdoors. Unlock the secrets of perspective, learn to simplify and strengthen your composition, wield color and brushwork to achieve a lively sense of place.
An accomplished fulltime painter as well as an active and passionate instructor, Levée is the creator of the award-winning Learn and Master Painting series. Nashville is a wonderful place to paint and explore, with street scenes, riverfront views, gardens and greenways. And you will love the food and, of course, the music!
This workshop starts on Thursday afternoon with an orientation, slide show and lecture.
Friday morning Levée will demonstrate on location. This demonstration will include specific information about the decisions you will need to make in the first stages of your painting. These very early decisions can make or break a painting. As the demonstration progresses, you will see in action the process of incorporating gesture, brushwork, color, edges and perspective.
Friday afternoon through Sunday morning you will work at your easel with close instruction addressing your particular needs. The small class size ensures plenty of individualized attention.
At the end of the workshop we will meet for a review and a feast of Southern Barbeque. You will go home with expanded knowledge and skill, several paintings, good memories and maybe even some new friends!
Dates: May 31 through June 3.
Class limit: 15.
Workshop Fee: $375; a non refundable deposit of $175 will hold your spot.
